So Busy!

I'm so busy today, but I'm excited about it! I have lots of commissions to do in addition to a swap for Cut Out + Keep. I got an early start this morning and I'm halfway done with a commission/art trade with my good friend Sugarlishes. I asked her to make an Emmers the bunny plushie for me and in return I am making Adventure Time plushies for her. Here is Finn, a work in progress, and Jake, completed.

Next I'll be working on three plush Christmas ornaments for my dA pal, Ruthie. I also have two stenciled t-shirt commissions to complete on top of that! It really feels good to have people think so much of my crafts that they have commissioned me!

Little Plushie Swap

My partner has been warned that I would be posting pictures of the plushies I made for the Little Plushie Swap on Cut Out + Keep, so if she peeks at my blog it's her own fault! =P For this swap, we were required to make four or five little plushies for one partner (these are pretty tiny as they all fit snuggly into a 4 x 6 inch bubble mailer). I've made a Halloween Bunny, a little ghost (which was specifically requested by my partner and inspired inadvertently by JMKit =P), King Kong, a raccoon (the tutorial on how to make this cutie can be found HERE), and an Ewok.

I plan on making more woodland creatures from the same pattern that I made the raccoon from and hope to post the results soon!

Happy Birthday to Me!

Today is officially my birthday and I am 32 years old! I don't actually turn 32 until 8:46 a.m. EST, but let's not get technical! I plan on going out to lunch with my friend, Lindy, today, but other than that I don't have big plans. Thank you to all the people who have already wished me happy birthday and have given me awesome gifts. Early Birthday Prezzie from JinxBunny

I asked JinxBunny (a.k.a. JMKit) to put some bunny ears on my MiKit. He went ahead and made it an early birthday gift for me (my 32nd birthday is June 10th). I absolutely love it! Thank you, Robert! I'll dance (badly) at your wedding!

I'm Stoked!

As many of you know, I've been severely depressed for almost a year now. I've been spending a lot of time on deviantART lately and just a couple of days ago I came across the most amazing artist: this_is_nati. Natalia is from Puerto Rico and is beaming with talent! The art pictured above really caught my eye, not only for the colorful random goodness exploding from the girl's head, but because the title of it is "Happy Thoughts." I've not been having too many of those lately, but this picture made me smile.

One of my fellow dA friends decided that I had to have this piece of art, so he purchased it for me. I was so happy, I about cried! But that's not all of it! Natalia was giving away a drawing to her 2000th viewer, which just happened to be me! She asked what I would like incorporated into my drawing and I said, "bunnies, robots, and rockets." (She also has an affinity for robots.)

So needless to say, I'm very happy with these recent fortunate events! I will cherish Natalia's art forever and be ever so grateful to my friend for buying me the print that I coveted.

EDIT: I didn't expect to receive Natalia's kiriban drawing so soon, but I just got it a couple of hours ago! It's titled "And Away We Go." Here it is, and it's fabulous!

I made these two "Vampire Moon Bunnies" at Sug's daughter, Emma's request. Apparently the vampire bunnies all live on the moon. I was not aware of this fact until Sug informed me. I'll mail them out soon!

I Miss You (You Sarky English Prick)

I miss you, dude. I'm really sorry for everything I did to piss you off. Hopefully one day you'll forgive me and we'll be mates again. (I'm reading "Watership Down" by the way. It's pretty good. It's all about bunnies!)

Kawaii Bunny Plushie

I was becoming rather bored with my other bunny pattern, so I drew up a new one. The lines are still simple because I can't cut worth shit and the face is embroidered in a kawaii style. I've posted a How-To on Cut Out + Keep.

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter everyone! (Or Happy Zombie Jesus Day to those of you with a sense of humor). Have a great time with your family and friends today at church, an Easter egg hunt, or in my case, at the Cracker Barrel (yes, my mother doesn't want to cook so the family is headed out to the Cracker Barrel). Allie, my niece, is looking forward to hunting Easter eggs in the "tall grass" at my parents house because Poppy (my dad) hasn't been feeling well lately, so he has neglected to cut the grass.

Sober Bunny

What do you get for the friend or relative in rehab who has everything? (Okay, so they don’t really have anything because they pissed it all away in pursuit of their habit). How about Sober Bunny? Sober Bunny detests all fermented beverages and is the perfect Easter gift for the recovering (or not yet recovering) alcoholic in your life.

Sober Bunny was born out of sheer boredom and the following excerpt from a phone conversation I had today with a close friend who is away in rehab. (I’ll call him “Dumbass” to protect his anonymity--it’s a term of endearment. I swear!):

Me: Guess what?
Dumbass: What?
Me: Everyone loved the bunnies I made for my graduation today. (Referring to the 14 bunnies I made for the members of my therapy group and counselors).
Dumbass: Why didn’t you make me one? (Please notice that I did not receive a congratulations).
Me: Because you already have one, dumbass! (Referring to the first Love Bunny I ever made which he took with him to rehab).
Dumbass: Just f***ing with you!

Hopefully the facility my friend is in uses X-rays to screen their mail for contraband because I would be devastated if Sober Bunny gets destuffed! I predict a similar phone conversation to follow:

Dumbass: I love Sober Bunny and so did my friend, Dipshit! He wants to know if you can make a Crack is Wack Bunny.
Me (Thinking): Google Image = “crack pipe.”

Jinx and Minx Bunny Fan Art

Here are the two bunnies I made as fan art and submitted to deviantART for my friend, Jinx Bunny, a.k.a. JMKit. They are my representation of the JMKit characters Jinx and Minx Bunny (Jinx is the boy and Minx is the girl just in case you didn't know). Enjoy!

Bunnies!

I started making these bunnies over a month ago. They started out as part of the LOST swap project for Alejandra. (I totally forgot to take pictures of Ale’s LOST swap before I sent it out, but will post pictures of hers when I receive it). I initially made the infamous Bunny 8 by using a fabric marker to draw on the 8 and the eyes. The marker bled too much on the felt, so I decided to embroider those elements onto the bunny instead.

I had so much fun making and remaking Bunny 8, but knew that many people who I wanted to give the bunnies to would not appreciate the LOST reference. So instead of the 8, I chose the heart to replace it. I’ve even made a few zombie bunnies with a stitched heart and x-ed out eyes of which I sent a couple to my friend, Stu, of BuyZombie.com.



I’m now making these bunnies as graduation gifts for my fellow group therapy members, birthday gifts, and Happygrams on Cut Out + Keep. I even made an Alice in Wonderland White Rabbit version for the Alice in Wonderland swap on Cut Out + Keep which I just sent out to Jeanette. (I forgot to take pictures of everything I created in that swap as well, but will post pictures of her creations when I receive them).

I am completely addicted to making these little bunnies. They are so fun and easy to make and sewing seems to calm my nerves a lot. So don’t be surprised if you receive your own little bunny in the mail from me!

Due to the fact that my internet connection is completely unreliable and I have a two hour job interview tomorrow (that's what the lady told me--EEK!); I've decided to post my LOST swap inspiration for tomorrow, tonight. These are also little teasers for Ale. I found this painting by Mark Liley that fits in perfectly with the main theme of my swap.
